What We Do
Dragon PALS pairs trained Brunswick High School peer tutors with multilingual students during the school day. Tutors help with English practice, homework, class transitions, and the small daily moments that make school feel less unfamiliar.
The goal is not just academic help. It is friendship, consistency, and making sure every student has someone in the building who knows their name.
Peer Connection
Students build trust through steady, one-on-one support.
Language Bridge
Tutors use English, visuals, gestures, translation tools, and patience.
Academic Confidence
Support happens inside the school day, where students need it most.
How It Works
Dragon PALS keeps the process simple, structured, and school-based.
Apply
Interested students apply to be peer tutors or request support through the ESOL team.
Match
Dragon PALS creates tutor-student pairings based on schedule, class needs, and personality fit.
Support
Pairs meet regularly during FLEX or other school-day times for academic and language help.
Become a Dragon PALS Tutor
We are looking for patient, reliable students who want to make Brunswick High School more welcoming for everyone. Tutors do not need to speak another language. They just need to be consistent, kind, and willing to communicate creatively.
- Patient
- Reliable
- Friendly
- Respectful
- Comfortable asking questions
- Willing to learn from students, not just teach them
Request Support
Dragon PALS helps multilingual students connect with peer tutors who can support them with schoolwork, English practice, and daily life at Brunswick High School.
Students can ask a teacher, ESOL staff member, counselor, or Dragon PALS leader about being matched with a peer tutor.
Student-Led. School-Based. Community-Focused.
Dragon PALS began as a student-led effort to make Brunswick High School more welcoming for New Mainer students. By building relationships during the school day, the program turns language support into something personal, consistent, and community-centered.
